Beautiful being,
It’s that time of the week when you get a fresh dose of wisdom to level up your Emotional Quotient and ninja through some of your biggest unspoken challenges.
What’s in store today:
Insight: 3 ways to uncover your biggest blind spots
Podcast episode: The Secret to Effortless flow with Simon Alexender Ong
Self-reflection: This week’s question
If there’s one thing I’m obsessed with more than anything else in this world, it's got to be self-awareness.
An odd choice, you may think….
Not when you witness how the costs of being unaware unfold in your life- whether it’s getting caught up in trivial ego games, sabotaging your growth or blaming everyone else for personal problems.
As much as we pride ourselves on knowing ourselves, we really don't. In fact, we all live with a ton of blind spots.
Believing that you’ve got no blind spots, in a blind spot in itself. Bet you didn't see that coming.
But luckily there’s a way to prevent yourself from being doomed in that trap and here are three of them:
1.Get a coach/therapist: You don't need to have ‘a problem’ to see someone. In fact, I started seeing a therapist recently to uncover my own blind spots, and boy has it been revelational! When you get an external perspective, the deep underlying stuff comes to the surface.
So don't hold back in exploring this route coz you’ll never be able to see someone yourself the way someone else can.
2. Spot common patterns: What is something you avoid doing the most? What kind of people do you end up attracting that you want nothing to do with? Where do you feel conflicted or stuck? If you find yourself circling back in the same situations over and over again, it’s a sign that one of your patterns is in action.
The simple act of paying attention can start to shift a lot.
3. Diversify your beliefs: This one’s tricky because we have an automatic tendency to surround ourselves with people who think and act like us. But this is how blind spots are reinforced. Explains how cults are formed. So it wouldn't hurt to expose yourself to environments with different ideas and perspectives.
It’s often your strongest views that need to be questioned the most.
Podcast
If you’ve ever struggled with a lack of clarity and stagnation, I may have something for you.
Last week I dove into this subject with my guest Simon Alexender Ong, author of Energise, to share his insights on establishing momentum so we can close the gap between ideas and execution.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
1. How to get rid of mental chatter
2. The reason behind unfulfillment and exhaustion
3. The way to cultivate purpose and confidence
Self-reflective question:
What am I avoiding to confront?
Answer this with complete honesty, no more procrastination.
And if you’re brave enough you’re more than welcome to share by replying to this email and you may just hear my thoughts :)
