An honest confession, the power of peers & an unconventional hack for anxiety

What’s in store today:
-An honest confession
-The power of peers
-An uncoventional hack for anxiety

Last week you didn’t hear from me. And if you’re a regular reader, you would’ve noticed as much.

I don’t know about you, but lately, time seems to be traveling at the speed of light. Before I know it, the week is gone.

Just. like. that.

NGL it’s felt overwhelming, juggling between various things like- podcasting (which is a whole process of its own), marketing Emotion-smart, other engagements, and this newsletter.

It's easy to make time the scapegoat, but I realized that the onus is on me. I lack the right systems.

This is an unusual edition given that every week I’m the one who’s sharing insights and strategies, but today I’m seeking your advice.

If you’ve managed to hack your life with strong systems, I’d love for you to share with me by simply replying back to this email, because I clearly haven’t mastered that domain yet.

Meanwhile, I’m experimenting with identifying my schedule's time and energy wasters and focusing on time blocking.

This essentially involves:

-Making a ‘stuff it’ list, instead of a bucket list.
-Identifying high-priority items
-Blocking some time towards it.

If you have anything else to add that’s worked well at your end, I’d love to hear from you.

The power of peers

There are two ways to go about reaching your career goals:

Slogging it out in a 9-5 for years, before making it anywhere close to the top

OR

Leveraging your networks and surrounding yourself with people who can contract that time for you.

My guest Lexy Franklin swears by the latter.

As the founder of Sidebar, a virtual leadership platform that fast-tracks growth through peer support, Lexy attributes most of his success to having a strong ecosystem of people with his back.

In this episode, he shares his insights on:

-The power of support groups
-How to build accountability
-What makes communities tick
-The learning scope in corporate vs entrepreneurship

If you’re looking to expand yourself to the next level from wherever you are, this might be a good place to start:

An unconventional hack for anxiety

Nothing is more unsettling than a mind that can’t calm itself.

The levels of anxiety have only increased in recent times and at the rate of our lifestyles, this is not changing any time soon.

Amongst all the strategies and apps out there, you wouldn’t expect the sound of rattling, scratching or crinkling plastic to reduce your anxiety levels. But that’s exactly what AMCR is known for.

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response is a tingling sensation that begins from the scalp and moves down the spine in response to auditory or visual stimuli. It’s unique effect has gained popularity making millions of people mesmerised by it.

Check out Cardi B having a go at this.

Who would’ve thought her voice could put someone to sleep.
