Leveraging perfectionism and attracting wealth
What’s in store today:
-Choosing the right kind of perfectionism
-Three mindset shifts to attract more wealth
-How are you experiencing life?
As a society, we’re conditioned to show our best selves and act like we always have it together. At some level, we all get caught up in chasing the idea of perfectionism.
But like most things in the world, perfectionism too is driven by polarity because it takes two forms: healthy and unhealthy.
Having high standards, striving for excellence, and learning challenging skills all fall under healthy perfectionism.
In essence, it’s internally driven.
Unhealthy perfectionism on the other hand is externally driven and shows up as- trying too hard to fulfill parental expectations, seeking validation, ruminating over every little mistake, and worrying about future performance.
Wouldn’t take too much to guess which of the two causes causes high stress levels along with depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
Research suggests that we all carry a combination of both, however detaching from the grip of unhealthy perfectionism while pursuing healthy perfectionism draws a fine balance.
A common method used in the entrepreneurship space that has been instrumental in achieving this balance, is prototyping.
The philosophy is simple-
Think less, move fast, fail, and move again.
This line of thinking has been well-adopted in Silicon Valley which explains the high rate of growth it churns out.
It’s tempting to second guess yourself and try and have everything be perfect before starting something but that is a recipe for being held back in a world that’s moving so fast.
Pixar Director, Andrew Stanton put it beautifully once:
“My strategy has always been: be wrong as fast as you can. Which basically means we’re gonna screw up. Let’s not be afraid of that. But let’s just do it as fast as we can so we can get to the answer. You can’t get to adulthood before you go through puberty. I won’t get it right the first time, but I will get it wrong really soon, really quickly “
Now that you have some inspiration from the guy who made Finding Nemo and Wall-E, ask yourself:
Where is unhealthy perfectionism holding you back in your life? And what’s it gonna take to trust yourself and just embrace the journey?
Three mindset shifts to attract more wealth
Imagine if becoming emotionally intelligent could make you wealthier…

"What the heck have emotions got to do with money?" You may think...
Well, everything.
Money carries a strong emotional charge, whether it’s excitement, gratitude, greed, envy, shame, guilt, or fear.
Here are three mindset shifts that can transform your relationship with this mighty paper that rules the world:
1. Wealth is relative: I see a lot of people feel stunned at the ridiculous amounts of money that the wealthy spend on clothes, cars, and other material assets. But wealth is just relative. What’s expensive to you isn't expensive to someone else. And what's cheap for you may be expensive for another. Money making has a large playing field, as long as you lean in with enthusiasm and not overwhelm.
2. You can never be rich by judging the rich: Far too many negative beliefs circulate about those who live in abundance by labeling them as "evil", "exploitative" and "indifferent to the poor". But creating this separation only distances you from the prospects of money. You can't aspire to have more while judging those who have more. Staying inspired and positive makes the energy of money more receptive to yours.
3. Generosity has high returns: It’s always amusing to see people act stingy, in spite of being loaded. This is a pure sign of insecurity and scarcity consciousness. Clinging on to money like it's going to vanish, is a recipe for being stuck and stagnant. Whereas feeling grateful for what you already have, unlocks the doors for more to roll in. As the classic saying goes: The more you give, the more you get.
Who would've thought that mastering thoughts and emotions around money may just be your ticket to a richer and more fulfilling life.
How are you experiencing life?
Viktor Frankl managed to find purpose and meaning during his torturous time as a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
There are homeless people who find spurts of happiness despite having nothing.
A large portion of people live in mansions with all the material wealth and yet are as miserable as ever.
In essence, your experience of life isn’t so much about what life brings to you but your interpretation of its events.
