The easiest way to get unstuck

Insights from my week in Morocco

Much against common perception, Diwali isn’t just about bright lights and gifting.

It marks a cosmic alignment for new beginnings, making it one of the most auspicious times of the year for new beginnings, personal growth, and cleansing of the old to welcome the new.

So I decided to mark my new beginning by spending this week on a retreat in Morocco.

From long mountain hikes to having icebaths in the cold and masterminding with an inspiring group of people, this experience has been revelational, and here are some insights that could serve as a worthy reminder:

Walks in nature are the biggest stress buster: Having experienced this first-hand over a 4-hour hike, I can say there’s nothing more calming than surrendering your worries to nature. When overwhelmed with stress, we make the mistake of trying to ‘think’ our way out of it, only to spiral further down.
There’s something deeply therapeutic in watching the serenity of the skies, and the mountains standing their ground in perfect stillness, as if offering the strength to deal with whatever life may throw our way.

Sharing your struggles is solving half the problem: Contrary to our conditioning of putting up facades and suffering in silence, there’s real power in being vocal about your struggles and seeking input. This is why I’m a sucker for masterminds, and the last few days of being immersed in creative brainstorming with these incredible folks has left me with a wealth of profound insight.

Sharing your struggles with a supportive group is one of the best life hacks because sometimes fresh perspectives can be the key to unlocking a world of possibilities.

Challenges accelerate momentum: Stagnation hits the best of us and unknowingly it’s comfort that is often the culprit. When things get too easy and monotonous, it’s a sign to shake things up. Embracing challenges may not come as naturally but it’s the best way to break out of the rut even if that takes the form of doing ice-cold baths in the cold.

Envisioning is the gateway to success: While every one of us is striving towards some goal or another, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and lose sight of what matters and why you started in the first place. In times like these, envisioning your ideal life and zooming out to see the bigger picture can help reconnect with your core purpose.

Doing the 5-year multiplier exercise and creating vision boxes, made me realize that taking time to dream and visualize can be instrumental in recentering and getting back on track.

This experience has been rewarding in more ways than one and if you ever feel stuck don’t hold back from giving yourself a shot and going all in.

Can’t recommend this enough.
