The easiest way to lose motivation
Our world today is abundant with opportunities.
Nowhere in our history have we had career options as accessible as search results on Google; or the opportunity to create businesses out of every possible idea out there. (face yoga instructors, plant stylists street interviewers- you name it)
However, it’s also created a load of confusion as we chase digital metrics rather than pursuing what truly lights us up.
Thanks to the ever-growing influence of social media, we’ve become excessively consumed by end outcomes like fame, popularity, and status - consequently opting for paths that will promise quick results.
In essence, extrinsic motivation (external rewards and validation) has overshadowed intrinsic motivation (personal satisfaction and enjoyment).
This shift poses significant challenges because any goal that’s pursued purely for external purposes, makes it very hard to sustain the motivation required to keep going.
If anything it only leads to stress and burnout. Contrary to the narrative that’s often promoted, burnout isn't caused by working long hours around the clock as it is by working around things that don’t really matter to us.
Besides, doing things for ourselves, vs fulfilling other’s standards directly affects our happiness levels too; because the satisfaction from chasing societal-dictated goals is short-lived and eventually leads to unanticipated feelings of emptiness.
Motivation at its highest level emerges when we pursue a goal that we genuinely care about, aligns with our core values, and allows for the freedom, autonomy, and personal responsibility to see it through.
This calls for detaching from external expectations, approval, and recognition and instead tuning into our inner voice and voice and focusing on our lane.
That’s the true test of success today and the ultimate recipe for fulfillment.
Knowing when it’s time to break up
Humans are known to be hypocrites.
We read personal transformative books, spend thousands on courses, and share inspirational wisdom about growth and change. Yet at the same time, we’re experts at self-sabotage.
We stay stuck in abusive relationships, carry on living with the same destructive patterns year after year, and do things that directly contradict our goals.
From my experience, all of this boils down to one simple fact: The fear of change is greater than the pain of stagnation.
But we don’t have to live with that fact forever.
Luckily we have people like Elizabeth Aldana in this world who recognize these patterns and help people break up with everything that steals their happiness.
From breaking up with her insecurity to finding the courage to recognize her own patterns holding her back, this breakup artist shares a blueprint for stepping into your authentic power.
7 days to mental fitness
If we worked on our mental fitness as much as we prioritize physical fitness, half the problems in the world wouldn’t exist today.
We expect peace and happiness from our lives, without putting in the work ourselves. Ultimately how we feel within, reflects how we feel about everyone and everything on the outside.
With 2025 around the corner, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to master some fundamentals and begin the year right.
