10 life changing lessons, unconscious energy drainers and what keeps us stuck...

What’s in store today:

-10 life changing lessons from Sahil Bloom
-Things you do that kill your buzz
-Why we stay stuck

Earlier this week I witnessed the internet sensation Sahil Bloom live in action, as he shared his experiences and wisdom.

When it comes to health, wealth, and relationships this guy’s cracked it all.

Here are 10 of my top takeaways from his conversation with the host, Ankur Warikoo:

1. The key to growth is immediate action: Whenever you come across valuable information through books, conversations or podcasts, act on it at the earliest. (so many of us lose the game here) Taking small and instant action is what creates the ripples that shift the trajectory of your entire life.

2. The best way out of the motivation trap is having systems: Sahil’s not a fan of motivation. Most smart people aren’t. Instead, he advises having the right systems in place. One of them is the ABC system:
A- Best goal (Read for an hour every day)
B- Base goal (Read one chapter a day)
C- Downside goal (Read for 10 minutes a day)

3. Every single thing you what in life is on the other side of what sucks: The meaning and success we all crave is on the other side of doing the sucky, painful, and uncomfortable things. But that other side is worth every ounce of sweat and is where all the rewards lie. As he puts it, there’s no such thing as a loser who wakes up at 5AM to work out.

4. Protein is the best health hack: If you want to stay healthy, make sure your diet is protein-rich. Eating sufficient protein makes you feel full enough not to derail with unhealthy snacking.

5. Value alignment is the biggest cheat code to a happy relationship: Sahil and his wife have been together since high school. In light of the high divorce rates these days, I wondered what’s kept them going through the different stages of their personal development journey. The answer to that is alignment on their long-term values.
“When the big picture values are aligned, the little things sort themselves out”.

 6. Complementarity is more important than compatibility: We often get swayed by the idea of chasing compatibility. What actually makes relationships tick though is, finding a partner who is complementary to you. i.e Your weakness is their strength and vice versa.

7. The gap between your current and ideal life can be shrunk: Stepping into your dream life from where you currently are can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t need to. Collect tiny pieces of evidence that will shrink that gap. This could involve things like understanding exactly what the path looks like, talking to people who’ve done it, and taking little steps towards it without taking the big risky leap. Sahil didn’t quit his job before he started to write and build his other businesses.

8. Self-awareness is a superpower: Being in denial about your weaknesses doesn’t help. It’s only when you’re aware of your limitations that you can outsource it to others to handle. Managing people is outside of Sahil’s interest and forte. So he has other people to handle it for him. Having this awareness has enabled him to build his empire.

 9. Chase impact and the money will follow: Wealth is created by delivering enormous amounts of value and capturing a small sliver of that. Focus on creating positive ripples in the world through every opportunity you get and the dollars will follow.

10. Never stop learning: Learning is present in every opportunity of life. noticed Sahil taking notes while in conversation with Ankur on stage. Safe to conclude that one of the many reasons behind his success is that he is perpetually learning and reflecting.

So there you have it. Tiny leaps that can make big shifts in your life.

Which of these stood out for you?

Things you do that kill your buzz

Energy is everything.

Being in the right space is imperative for doing things we love and showing up for people better.

But unconscious habits and choices can put us off center, affecting our moods and overall states of being.

In this episode, I talk through five common tendencies that end up as the biggest buz killers, without even necessarily realizing it:

Why we stay stuck…

On a theoretical level, everyone desires growth.

But change is more nuanced than that because the mind loves what’s familiar, even if that familiar zone causes pain.

Understanding things can put a lot of this in perspective, including why you or your loved ones stay stuck despite the greatest intentions.
